I've tried explaining the difference to him, and I think my inexperience with Netbox didn't help me convince him. However, my boss doesn't like the idea of standing up a new server when we already have Solarwinds monitoring everything. I especially like Netbox because it has what looks like a great API. So, I've been looking into Nornir and Netbox as an inventory solution. How can I automate my environment if I don't know what all of my switches/routers/firewalls in prod is? One of the biggest challenges I constantly face is having a consistent inventory. I've used both Python and Ansible, but am now pretty much strictly Python.
